Shwood

Shwood of Portland OR, makes eyewear out of wood. So its only natural to think of reclaimed and recycled when considering the sources for wood. But a skate deck is a step further. It already has amazing layers of stained ply throughout, so chopping that up and reassembling into eyeglass frames is striking. The dudes at Shwood cruise the streets of LA with HUF and crew and make a one off pair of skate deck shades.

Put on your sunglasses and crack a tall boy on a hot day. Nectarine Pie of Oakland released a great debut 7″ on South Paw Records. Now drive out of the city with this garage burner!

One of my favorites, Chet Childress and buddy Al Partanen wanted to “rough it” across America, hitchhiking and train hopping from Portland on little funds in search of new experiences and some good ol’ shredding. Straight Trippin’ was originally shot as a pilot for a pitch to become a tv short, but the suits weren’t into it so it got shelved. I would click the video and watch it on the full resolution, not this tiny one I got here! Cheers, get out on the road dudes.

Pierre-André Senizergues of sole tech in France had designer Gil LeBon Delapointe design him a house that is fully inspired by skateboarding and functions both as a home and skatepark. Not the most realistic housing option for most adults, but it’s still a cool concept and would be a trip to see in person. I can see a house full of dudes pulling this off, not soo much in a family scenario. You know you wanna throw a party here.

Pure X is a sweet band from Austin. Over at Altered Zones they talk skating zen ditches, creepin’ lizards, eternal jamnation and “a band capable of eradicating the 1,000 saccharine, cat-doting, cutesy, white bread, husband/wife, weak-sauce blog-cloggers.” I like these doods.
